Free Hands-On Computer Classes This September at Orland Park Public Library. Learn Windows 11, Canva, Cricut, and More!

This September, the Orland Park Public Library is offering a robust lineup of hands-on computer classes designed to help patrons develop skills in digital creativity, crafting technology, and everyday tech basics. Whether you're just starting out or ready to take your abilities to the next level, our friendly, expert instructors are here to guide you.

All classes are free and open to the public. Registration is required as space is limited.

September Computer Class Highlights

Windows 11, Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m., This hands-on class will guide you through the fundamentals of navigating Windows 11. Learn how to find what you need, organize your files, and personalize your experience. We’ll cover the Start menu, Taskbar, File Explorer, Settings, and more! Class size limit:16. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Computer Basics, Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m., In this hands-on class, you will learn the various parts of a computer, how to use a mouse, how to open/close a program, and how to properly turn on/off the computer. Class size limit:16. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Tech Center Overview for Teens, Friday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m., In this lecture-style class, you will learn about the Tech Center and the equipment located there for library patron use. Visit the library to learn about the 3D printer, Glowforge, and Cricut. You will spend the most time with the 3D printer and learn how to print a 3D model. Class size limit:12. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Canva Basics, Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m., In this hands-on class, you will learn how to use this graphic design program to create a variety of fun projects, both print and digital. Class size limit:16. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Cricut Basics, Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m., In this basic course, you will receive hands-on instruction on how to use the Cricut Design Space and Cricut craft cutting machine and take home a personalized project. Class size limit:6. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Computer Intermediate, Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m., This hands-on class will build on the foundation of the previous Computer Basics class. You will learn how to create folders, surf the web, and how to create safe passwords. Class size limit:16. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Glowforge Basics, Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
In this course, you will get hands-on instruction using the Glowforge laser cutter/engraver machine. Class size limit:6. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

Peanuts Glowforge Project, Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m., In this class, you will use the Glowforge machine to create a take home "Peanuts" project in honor of Charles M. Schultz's 70th birthday. Previous Glowforge experience or having taken our Glowforge Basics class is required to participate in this project class. Class size limit:6. Registration Opens: Sept. 2.

The Orland Park Public Library is committed to enriching the community through access to information, education, and engaging programs. Located at 14921 S. Ravinia Ave., the library offers a wide range of services and events for patrons of all ages. The library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
