Fall-Down Drunk Goes Trick-or-Treating with 7-Year-Old Boy: Cops

The Palos Hills man threatened one homeowner when he didn't get the same treat as the boy, according to police.

A Palos Hills man took a 7-year-old boy on an “intoxicated combative” trick-or-treat tour of Riverside on Halloween night, according to police, hurling threats at homeowners who didn’t dole out appropriate treats.

Jeffrey A. Lustro-Dufrain, 27, of the 7800 block of West 103rd Street, faces two counts of assault and one count of endangering the health and safety of a child, according to Riverside Police.

At one point Saturday evening, when someone handed a glow stick to the child he was with, Lustro-Dufrain threatened to punch the person because he didn’t get one, too, police said.

“I’m going to come back with my homies and take care of this party,” Lustro-Dufrain allegedly said, according to cops.

The man was so drunk, according to police, he fell on the ground and couldn’t get up. Several people phoned in reports to police from Addison Road. When police tried to assist him, Lustro-Dufrain lashed out, police said, and he became “combative.” He also tried to kick out the squad-car window, police said.

The mother of the 7-year-old boy, who lives in Cicero, is a friend of Lustro-Dufrain’s. She told police he had her permission to take her son trick-or-treating, and they chose Riverside because they thought they’d get “better Halloween treats.”

Police took Lustro-Dufrain to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, where he was treated for alcohol overdose, police said. The mother is also under investigation.
