Firefighters, Drone Battle Large Brush Fire in Orland Park Friday
Area firefighters responded Friday afternoon to a large brush fire in a popular forest preserve area.
ORLAND PARK, IL - Area firefighters responded Friday afternoon to a large brush fire in a forest preserve area adjacent to Tampier Lake in Orland Park, where they used a drone to squelch the spreading flames.
The blaze ignited shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of 135th Street and Wolf Road, according to an alert from Northern Illinois Fireground.
Once they got the fire under control, emergency responders reportedly deployed a drone to help find lingering hot spots. The cause of the fire remained hazy as of 3 p.m. Friday.
