Ghost Gun, 30 Rounds Of Ammunition Found With 21-Year-Old: Police
The gun was found in the back seat of a car during a traffic stop, according to Orland Park Police.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A ghost gun was recovered from a 21-year-old Chebanse, IL man during a traffic stop in Orland Park, according to police.
On Friday, police said they stopped a car driving through the 9400 block of 159th Street due to a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver of the car, police said the officer smelled the odor of cannabis from the vehicle. The driver confirmed he was smoking cannabis, and stated he had more inside the car. Three people in the car were then searched, and about seven grams of cannabis not purchased from a legal dispensary were found, according to police.
Upon searching, the officer on scene found a Polymer 9mm Glock “ghost gun,” built with all aftermarket components, in the back seat of the car. The gun had no serial number, had a laser sight and contained an extended magazine loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, police said.

Police said the driver was issued a municipal violation ticket, while backseat passenger Caleb Mezo, 21, told the officer he is the owner of the gun. According to police, Mezo does not have an Illinois FOID card or concealed carry license. He was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
Mezo was transported to the Cook County Department of Corrections at 2600 S. California Ave. and issued a $15,000 bond, according to police.
