Halloween House Decorating Contest In Orland Offers Prizes

The Village of Orland Park's Recreation Department is sponsoring its first Halloween decorating contest.

ORLAND PARK, IL — October is here and Halloween decorations are being put on display all around town. If they haven't already, residents will soon see skeletons, ghosts and of course, pumpkins in various areas of Orland Park.

The Village of Orland Park’s Recreation Department is sponsoring a new event this year for Halloween: The first-annual "Halloween House Decorating Contest."

To enter the contest, all residents need to do is register online. The event is free and is an alternative to way to get in the Halloween spirit this year for those who do not want to participate in trick-or-treating.

The deadline to enter is Sunday, Oct. 25. Judging for the competition will take place Oct. 26 to 28. here are two ways to win the contest. The "BooCrew" (judges) will pick their top choice, along with whichever house gets the most likes on Facebook.

Winners of the contest will be announced on Oct. 30. The recreation center said great prizes will be awarded, plus the winners will get a yard sign designating their yard, letting everyone know they have won as the best house in town.
