Kitten Rescued From Apartment Fire, Revived With Oxygen Mask: Orland Fire
The tiny kitten's life was in firefighters' hands Saturday, as crews sprang to action to get the little baby oxygen.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Firefighters on the scene of an apartment fire in Orland Park Saturday morning plucked a tiny being from inside, fire officials said Sunday.
Crews at the fire in the 15200 block of El Camino Terrance found a kitten that needed help breathing; photos show the kitten breathing deeply from an oxygen mask nearly as big as its entire body.

Firefighters on scene reported smoke showing from the eaves on the north side of the building. The fire was located in a unit in the building's northwest corner. It was contained, causing heavy damage to the kitchen before being extinguished, officials said.

Fire officials said Saturday that no one was injured. But on Sunday, firefighters said they'd found a kitten inside the apartment. Firefighters were able to give the kitten oxygen to help it overcome the smoke it had inhaled. It was handed back to its owners healthy, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
