ORLAND PARK, IL — A Lynwood man has been charged in connection with a June 2024 carjacking in Orland Park, police said Monday.

On June 6, the Orland Park Police Department responded to a call of an aggravated vehicular hijacking at the Mercedes-Benz of Orland located at 8430 W. 159th St. The victim, a vehicle transporter, was preparing to load a black 2021 Mercedes-Benz onto a transport truck for delivery to an out-of-state dealership.

While in the process of loading the vehicle, the victim was approached by two individuals who brandished a gun and demanded the keys to the car. The driver complied, and both suspects fled the scene with the stolen Mercedes-Benz, as well as the vehicle they had arrived in, police said.

Working in collaboration with detectives from the Countryside Police Department, Orland Park detectives identified a suspect—Marcus Turner, 23, of Lynwood—based on evidence gathered during the investigations.

On Sept. 12, Orland Park and Countryside Detectives located Turner in Markham and took him into custody.

At the time of his arrest, police said Turner was in possession of two firearms and had a revoked FOID card, police said. Turner was subsequently charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Turner made his initial court appearance on September 13, before Judge Fairman, who ordered home confinement from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. until Turner’s next court date on October 10.

Turner was also detained for a probation violation from a 2022 case.
