Mud Run and Obstacle Course to Support Breast Cancer Research This Week
Volleyball youth league tryouts, Downton Abbey, a quitting smoking class and more happening this week in and near Orland Park.

Pretty Muddy is returning to Orland Park on Saturday.
The 5K women’s mud run and obstacle course will take place starting 8 a.m. Saturday at the Pretty Muddy Farm on 183 Street west of Wolf Road.
After about 2,000 participants at last year’s inaugural run, the event has returned with an even greater cause. Pretty Muddy has partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of breast cancer research.

“Our partnership with Komen Chicago falls perfectly in line with our Pretty Muddy mission and why we started the 5k women’s mud run,” said Pretty Muddy Managing Founder Kevin Scharnek in a release. “We created Pretty Muddy because we were inspired by the women in our lives that do so much for so many and we wanted to give a little bit back.”
Cost to register is $69.50, but $10 can be taken off by entering the code KOMEN. Also, the first 250 breast cancer survivors to sign up can do so for free.

Pretty Muddy includes a 5 kilometer (about 3.1 miles) mud run/walk with about 10 obstacles. Last year, obstacles included climbing nets, wooden fencing, a beach ball pit and a slide. Dress knowing you will get muddy while participating.
Waves of participants start every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. on and after the race is an “epic finish line party” with food, drinks and entertainment.
