New Secretary Of State Facility Opens In Orland Park
Orland Township opens new Secretary Of State facility after the Village of Orland Park permanently closed its location earlier this year.
ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Township has officially opened the new Secretary of State express service office in Orland Park. The township shared on Facebook that the facility opened late last week.
The new facility is located at 14807 S. Ravinia Ave. The opening of the newest addition to the township is sponsored by Secretary of State Jessie White, Orland Township Supervisor Paul O'Grady and Senator Bill Cunningham, according to the township.
The hours of operation at the new facility are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The office, initially located at the Orland Park Village Hall,closed when the mayor advised the facility would need to find another location, according to a release from the township. Previously reported by Patch, there was talk of an express Illinois Secretary of State facility opening in Tinley Park after the Village of Orland location closed permanently.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Secretary of State’s office to provide the Department of Motor Vehicle Express Services to the residents of Orland Township and the South Suburbs," Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady said, according to a June 26 release from the township. "The Secretary of State’s office has had a long relationship within Orland Township and we are proud to continue providing these much needed services under our roof. It has always been my goal as Township Supervisor to meet the community needs through high-quality and convenient services and with this addition we’re right on track."

According to the release, Secretary of State Jessie White said he applauds O'Grady for agreeing to open the facility in the township, reaffirming his commitment to the people of Orland Township and surrounding communities.
"It is unfortunate that the mayor’s actions caused a disruption in local service, but we will move on in bringing convenient services to the people in the southwest suburbs," White said according to the release.
According to the release, Cunningham commends White and O'Grady for their work to bring the facility to the township.
“Repurposing space in an existing publicly-owned building is a low cost, commonsense solution that protects taxpayer dollars and improves government efficiency.”
