One Orland Party Announces Its Candidates For April 2021
The party is running with three candidates for village trustee and one for village clerk. It's backing mayoral candidate Dan McLaughlin.

ORLAND PARK, IL â The One Orland Party announced its slate of candidates running in the April 2021 consolidated election for village trustees and village clerk early Thursday morning.
The candidates the group is anticipating include Patrick OâSullivan, Amy Burrell, Chris Kasmer, and Derek Rinaldi, who have all have announced their intention to run for open offices in Village Hall under the slate, according to a news release.

âThree years of division and ineffectiveness in Village Hall has resulted in a budget deficit for the first time in decades and the politicization of Orland Park familiesâ health and safety. Itâs time to tackle the deficit our current Village Hall has left us, begin the hard work of rebuilding our economy in the wake of this pandemic, and end the division and corruption plaguing village politics and politicizing our health.â
Background
Patrick OâSullivanâ Sullivan is running for Orland Park Village Clerk. The candidate has served as President of the District 230 School Board, two terms as the Vice President of the Board and Chairperson of the Building and Finance Committee, and is currently Chair of the Education Committee. In addition, Sullivan is a coach in Orland community youth athletics. The release states, "As Village Clerk, he will bring transparency and honesty to our local government and make sure it is accessible to all."

Amy Burrellâ Burrell is a research technologist at Northwestern University and moved to Orland Park with her husband in 2018 when they purchased their first home. The party states that "Burrell understands the importance of getting the younger generation interested in their local government; she sees the benefits of diversifying the economy, expanding access to recreational programs, and developing our area with the best interests of working families and generations to come." The candidate chose to live in Orland because she feels it's a welcoming community and wants to "ensure Orland Park remains a great place to start and raise a family."
Chris Kasmerâ Kasmer is a business representative for the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, which represents over 30,000 working people throughout Illinois and Eastern Iowa, the release states. "He knows first-hand that winning the fight for better wages, good-paying jobs, and fair working conditions means supporting organized labor. Chris also understands the importance of fiscal responsibility and setting policy for good stewardship over public funds. Since 2010, he has served as a trustee on a $1B public retirement health fund that has maintained over 100% funding status during his tenure," the release states. Kasmer is serving his fourth year as the President of Orland School District 135âs Parents for Education.
Derek Rinaldiâ Rinaldi comes from a family of educators and working professionals. The party said that with a background in construction and project planning, as well as being a local small business owner, Rinaldi will "use his expertise to champion the infrastructure and development projects Orland Park needs to rebuild the local economy."
The election is on April 6, 2021. The One Orland Party is also backing Mayoral candidate Dan McLaughlin, who announced his candidacy earlier this week.
"Together, this slate will ensure that Orland Park families are fairly represented in the Village Hall," the party said in a statement. "They will build a road to economic recovery after COVID-19 that will put working people first, support small businesses and workers, and end the deficits the previous administration has imposed on Orland Park families."
