Opening Date Set For Orland's New Indoor Slide Park

Slick City is set to open to the public, with a ribbon cutting featuring a DJ, facepainting and giveaways the same day.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A popular attraction touted as the world's first indoor park will soon open its Orland Park location, staff announced this week.

Slick City, opening in the former Gizmo's Fun Factory at 66 Orland Square Dr., will open to the public at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. A ribbon cutting celebration is planned from 4 to 6 p.m., the location's manager said. Activities include a red carpet entrance, live DJ, have a red carpet entrance, a prize wheel with free giveaways, temporary tattoos, and face crayons—all staffed by the location's team members.

The first 100 guests through the door at 4 p.m. also get a free, 30-minute ticket upgrade with the purchase of a 90-minute ticket.

"Get ready for massive indoor slides, sports air courts, laser tag, and soft play," Slick City Orland Park's Facebook page reads.

The action park opened its first Illinois location in North Aurora last fall and operates 16 parks nationwide. Its website lists 40 locations as under construction.

The Orland Park location will feature many of the same attractions as the North Aurora one, including the "Fast Lane," "Big Wave" and "Cowabunga" slides. Check them out on the website.

Orland Park Mayor Jim Dodge will attend the ribbon cutting, with staff joined by the Orland Park, Mokena and Tinley Park chambers of commerce.

The location will also support the Good Shepherd Center as its nonprofit partner. The Hazel Crest-based nonprofit agency is a multi-service agency serving children and adults with and without disabilities, as well as families. As a nonprofit partner, children from the center will be able to enjoy the slides and attractions for free.

Hiring for the location is also still ongoing. Those interested must have availability on Saturday and Sunday. Open interviews will be held weekdays the week of October 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. Find out more online.
