Orland Baldwin Wallace University Student Gets $17K Scholarship

The student is among 600 first-year students who earned a total of $10.2 million in scholarships, according to the university.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Zachary Petro from Orland Park was one of nearly 600 first-year students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace University (BW) campus this fall, who earned over $10.2 million in merit scholarships, according to the university.

According to the University, Petro is a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School and is majoring in engineering. Petro earned a $17,000 Dean's Scholarship based on his outstanding academic achievements in high school, the university said.

The university said its merit scholarships are awarded to full-time students and are renewable up to four years with good academic and social standing. The university offers a wide range of financial support to its students — more than $51 million for the 2020-2021 academic year— the university said.

Baldwin Wallace University was founded in 1845, according to the university. It was one of the first colleges to admit students without regard to race or gender. BW is an independent, coeducational university of 3,500 students and offers coursework in liberal arts in more than 80 academic areas, according to the university.

BW is Located in Berea, 12 miles from downtown Cleveland, Ohio. BW offers students the cultural, educational and business advantages of a major metropolitan area, according to the university.
