Orland Dist. 135 Opens Applications For New Committee Volunteers
Orland Dist. 135's school board is looking for volunteers to serve on five new advisory committees.

ORLAND PARK, IL â The Orland School District 135 Board of Education, making good on its promise to parents earlier this year, is looking applicants for five new advisory committees.
The committees are communications, finance/operations, policy/personnel, teaching and learning, and technology. Members will gather information and feedback from the community to guide the board's decisions. They will not be voting members, but will serve in an advisory role.
The committees will be made up of board members, Dist. 135 staff, and parents or community members.

The board promised earlier this year to form the committees after parents took members to task for what they said was a lack of transparency and community input over budget-cutting decisions.
Those who are interested should apply using the district's online system. Applications will be accepted through Sun., May 12. All applicants will be notified by email after the committee selection process is complete.
