Orland Park Again Honored As Tree City USA

The Village announced the designation that's credited to their commitment to their community forest management.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Village of Orland Park has been recognized as a member of Tree City USA for the 37th consecutive year for its commitment to community forest management.

The Village recently completed work on its 2024 Parkway, Park and Facility Tree Assessment. Crews from Great Lakes Urban Forestry Management (GLUFM) assessed and inventoried all public trees located in parkways and park/facility grounds, a total of 36,134 trees.

At the April 21 Village Board Meeting, the Village also announced April 22 as Earth Day and April 25 as Arbor Day in the Village of Orland Park, urging residents to support efforts to protect our environment and promote the preservation and beautification of our community.

The Tree City USA program has recognized cities and towns that leverage urban forestry to enhance the livability and sustainability of their local area for over 40 years. There are over 3,587 Tree Cities that have invested more than $2 billion in trees this year, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a global nonprofit with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. Its network of more than a million supporters and partners has helped the organization plant more than 500 million trees in forests and communities across more than 60 countries since 1972.
