ORLAND PARK, IL — The Village of Orland Park shared a public safety update on Facebook after the Grand Jury announcement in regards to the death of Breonna Taylor.
The governor of Illinois has prepared the National Guard for any civil unrest that might happen after the jury's decision to indict former Louisville police detective, Brett Hankison, on a charge of wanton endangerment. Charges have not been filed against the two other police officers involved in her death: Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Detective Myles Cosgrove.

The village said police have no indication of Orland Park being a target for any civil unrest, and that these actions are being put in place as an abundance of caution.
Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was shot and killed in her apartment March 13 by officers executing an unannounced search warrant as part of a drug investigation into a man who did not live there.
Thinking the intruders were burglars, Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, said he opened fire and struck an officer. Taylor was struck more than five times in the ensuing exchange of gunfire.
