ORLAND PARK, IL — A southland interstate alliance is moving forward with a big ticket property near Orland Park, Tinley Park and Mokena, officials said.

The Chicago Southland Interstate Alliance was created in 2017 to bring business to the area surrounding Interstate 80.

Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau told residents at a recent State of the Village address that a multi-billion dollar project could be coming soon. The corridor is one of four sites being considered for a $10 billion auto parts manufacturing site which would supply parts to Hyundai.

"First, they have to choose a site in Illinois," Pekau said. "We think we have the best site because we're so close to the train stations and the highway."

Other sites for sale within the area include Centennial Crossings and The Campus at I-80. CSIA officials told Patch the group wants to attract businesses of all kinds to the area including manufacturing, office space and even biotech.
