Orland Park Library Ends Quarantine Requirement For Materials
All items returned to the library from books to movies will no longer quarantine before being checked out again.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Park Public Library announced it has ended the quarantine requirement for materials returned to the library. This means all items returned to the library from books to movies will no longer be quarantined for an extended period of time before someone else can check them out.
"Continued research shows that COVID-19 mainly spreads through respiratory droplets in the air, including recent research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)," the library explained in a statement. "The library continues to take a number of steps to ensure that patrons and staff remain as safe as possible. We require all our staff and patrons to wear masks at all times while in the library building."

The library explains that this new change only applies to materials handled by the Orland library, and that other libraries in the area make their own decisions based on their communities’ specific needs.
The Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) ended their quarantine of materials on Monday, April 12, the library added. See the library’s COVID-19 reopening plan here.
