Orland Park Library Hosts Bestselling Author For Talk
Alka Joshi recently sold her book The Henna Artist to Netflix who will make the trilogy into a TV series, library staff told Patch.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park Public Library is set to host a bestselling author whose work will soon be made into a Netflix series, library officials told Patch.
Alka Joshi, author of The Henna Artist, will speak to interested residents via Zoom on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to all.
Joshi sold The Henna Artist to Netflix who will turn the book into a shortened TV series. The novel, set in 1950s India, is about a 17-year-old girl who escapes an abusive marriage to become a henna artist for India's wealthiest women.

The book is the first in a trilogy. It's successor, The Secret Keeper, was released in 2021.
The story was inspired by Joshi's journey of becoming a writer much later than others realize, the author said in a statement. She was 51 years old when she earned her masters of fine arts and wrote her first novel.
