Orland Park Lions Club To Donate Queen of Hearts Proceeds To Honor Flight Chicago
Forty percent of the proceeds from the Sept. 19 Queen of Hearts fundraiser will go to Honor Flight Chicago, the organization said.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Park Lions Club, serving the community since 1964, has announced that the upcoming Queen of Hearts fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 19 will directly support Honor Flight Chicago. In a special gesture of gratitude to America’s veterans, 40 percent of the evening’s proceeds—awarded as the Lions' share—will be donated to Honor Flight Chicago.
*Editor's note: A previous version of this release provided to Patch listed the amount to be donated as 60%. That amount has now been edited to reflect an updated release.
Honor Flight Chicago is a nonprofit dedicated to honoring senior war veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in their honor. Since its founding in 2008, the organization has flown more than 10,000 World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans, providing them with a once-in-a-lifetime day of recognition and remembrance.

The Queen of Hearts Raffle is one of the Lions Club’s most popular fundraisers, drawing large community participation and excitement. Each week, participants purchase raffle tickets for a chance to uncover the Queen of Hearts on a board of 54 cards. If the Queen is revealed, the raffle concludes, and the winning ticket holder receives the prize pool. On September 19, that winning share—calculated at 60% of the night’s proceeds—will be donated in its entirety to Honor Flight Chicago.
“Supporting veterans is deeply aligned with the Lions’ mission of service,” said Jeff Floerke, President of the Orland Park Lions Club. “This partnership allows us to honor those who served our country while engaging the community in a fun and meaningful way.”
