Orland Park Offering Free Christmas Light Recycling, Tree Collection
Local residents can take unwanted holiday lights to a variety of locations for recycling and trees and wreaths will be picked up this week.

ORLAND PARK, IL — As Orland Park residents begin to reset for the new year, part of that process for some includes taking down Christmas and holiday decorations that may have been up since after Thanksgiving.
But rather than throwing unwanted Christmas tree and decorative lights away, the Village of Orland Park will be accepting lights as part of its annual light recycling program. The lights will be accepted through Jan. 25, the village said on Tuesday.
Residents have several locations around Orland Park to drop lights off where lights can be recycled. Here’s where local residents can have lights recycled:

Village officials also announced on Monday that this week will be the final week that Waste Management will be collecting Christmas trees and wreaths for curbside pick-up. Residents are able to leave real Christmas trees and wreaths on their curb on their normal trash and recycling collection day this week and the items will be collected.
Residents must remove all decorations and leave the tree and wreaths unbagged at the curb. Trees that are six feet or taller must be cut in half.
