Orland Park's 33rd Annual Turkey Trot Returns This November
Registration to run the 2.5-mile cross-country course is now open.

ORLAND PARK, IL —The 33rd year of Orland Park's annual Turkey Trot will kick off Thanksgiving morning, as the village's highly anticipated tradition for many kick off the holiday with a brisk run before sitting down to their annual feasts, according to a news release from the village.
The popular event is a chip timed race that features a 2.5-mile cross-country course that takes participants through paved roads, paths and wooded areas of Orland Park, including the infamous hill of the John Humphry Woods, the release states.
“Many people, young and old alike, look forward to the Turkey Trot every year,” said Mayor Keith Pekau. “It is great to see children, teens and adults spending time together participating as a family.”

All race participants receive a long-sleeved dri-fit race shirt, refreshments and are entered into a post-race drawing for prizes.
“We have so many interested participants that the event sells out early each year,” Pekau said. “We recommend that runners register early to ensure a spot in the race.”

Registration is available online and in-person at the Orland Park Sportsplex, located at 1351 W. 159th St, or at the Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, located at 14700 S. Ravinia Ave.
A frozen turkey will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, the release states. Special turkey trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each of 14 age groups, male and female. Pre-registration is required and limited to 950 participants, the release states.
Race fees are $21 for residents and $25 for non-residents until Oct. 31. Beginning Nov. 1, fees will increase to $26 for residents and $30 for non-residents.
Pre-race packet pickup is available Nov. 19 through Nov. 23 at The Human Race Sports located at 15148 S. La Grange Road. Day of race packet pickup is also available at the event site beginning at 6:30 a.m.
