ORLAND PARK, IL — Without community leaders, Orland Park wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from James Caliendo, a Orland Park reader who nominated Michael Lorenzo Sr., owner of Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant in Orland Park.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Mike is always giving and doing for the community. Whether it is for our local high school or a small business, he is always there to provide services for nominal cost to make people happy. His level of donations far exceed anyone's expectations. Most of us really do not know how he stays in business with all the help he gives for nothing in return. The community needs more generous people like Mike to bring the community feeling back to our streets.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

He is someone that you can always go to in time of need, and he will give you the shirt off his back if need be. He will always help. No matter the situation. He has a heart as big as a house, and he uses it for good all the time.
