Orland Square Mall Closes Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
Simon Property Group announced the closure of all of its malls beginning on March 18. They are expected to reopen on March 29.

ORLAND PARK, IL â Orland Square Mall closed its doors temporarily Wednesday and will remain closed for at least 11 days as a response to the new coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. Simon Property Group, owner of the mall, confirmed they have closed all of their shopping malls.
"The health and safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees is of paramount importance and we are taking this step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," said David Simon, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Simon.
Simon's decision comes after "extensive discussions" with federal, state and local officials, according to a news release.

Other malls Simon operates in Illinois include the ones in Aurora, Schaumburg, Springfield and Gurnee.
For now, the closure is set to end on March 29.
