This Butcher Shop, An Orland Park Staple, Will Close: Owners

ORLAND PARK, IL — A longtime and beloved business in Orland Park will close, its owners confirmed on social media Tuesday.

Randy's Meat Market and Deli, 9105 W. 151st St., will shutter; its last day in business is not immediately clear, though customers said they visited the store Tuesday and something looked amiss.

Owners Vic Giacobbe and Dave WIthers opened the market in 2014 as the successor to Randy's Market, which closed in 2011 after 25 years. Withers also co-owned the original Randy's Market, located at 143rd and LaGrange Road. Randy Huff was the store's original owner, and its namesake.

"Thank you, Orland Park and all the people that have supported us over the years!" the message reads. "Unfortunately, we have decided to close one of the remaining staples in Orland. Not sure if relocating is an option at this time, but we will definitely work hard and exercise every way possible to reopen at another location.

"Even though it's goodbye for now, we will never forget the customers we have met, which turned into friends that shared their cooking stories along the way!"

As news spreads, loyal customers share their shock.

"Went by there today and knew something was wrong," one wrote. "Victor, I thank you for doing a lot of my special requests. You never let me down...."

"So sad to see you go," wrote another. "A terrible loss for Orland Park."

The market, in some form, is a focal point of local families' memories.

"A staple indeed," one wrote. "I’ll never forget walking in and immediately looking to the right while my Mom grabbed a cart to see if at the end of this trip I was going to get a cheese cube/honey mustard treat from the deli before check out. Many thanks to you for the family memories that last forever in our hearts."

"This is a repeat of sadness again!!!! Please come back!" wrote another. "We need you here! Randy’s is part of Orland Park history!"

There was no reason cited for the closure. Patch has reached out to Randy's for additional comment.

"Vic, we loved your store!" one customer said. "It's the only place we trusted to buy ALL our meat and poultry, and we enjoyed chatting with you and your staff. We hope you can/will find another location, in the meantime, will miss YOU!"
