Orland Trustee Daniel Calandriello Will Not Seek Another Term
Calandriello said he hopes the new village board will work together in a collaborative manner, not viewing things as personal wins or losses

ORLAND PARK, IL â Orland Park Board of Trustee Dan Calandriello announced he will not run for reelection in the April municipal election. Calandriello has been part of the board for more than seven years.
"âŚAfter much thought, I have decided not to run for Trustee or Mayor in this Aprilâs election. I appreciate your messages of support regarding my possible candidacy," Calandriello said in a statement. "With my growing family and law practice, I cannot provide the Village with the time and commitment it deserves. Serving effectively as a Trustee is a full-time job and at this time my most important job is to be a supporting and loving husband and father."
Reflecting upon his time as part of the village board, Calandriello said he is proud of the Villageâs accomplishments, pointing out the "villageâs strong financial position, newly established long-term pillars of economic development and improvements in infrastructure including roads and parks."

Calandriello said he has never voted to increase property taxes, helping keep Orland Park property tax portion less than seven cents per property tax dollar. He pointed out that as a team, the board was able to lower the debt at the same time and keep Orland Parkâs bond ratings high.
Highlighting some developments within the Village he is most proud of, Calandriello highlighted businesses that came to town, infrastructure improvements, parks and more.

âThe Villageâs long-term efforts have come to fruition with the new University of Chicago facility, Palos/Loyola Medical Camp expansion, and Von Maur opening in Orland Square Mall," Calandriello said. "The Village has been working tirelessly towards all of these developments for over six years. We were able to make investments in our infrastructure, including our neighborhood roads and parks.
Additionally, the new Orland Park Nature Center will be around for generations for our childrenâs children to enjoy. Of course, all these positive developments would not have been possible without maintaining a safe community with a world-class, award-winning police department.â
As a departing wish, Calandriello hopes the new village board will work together in a collaborative manner, not viewing things as personal wins or losses. Calandriello added that he hopes the board engages in more discussions with its residents and less dictation.
The trustee said he believes good government means leaders communicating with their residents with respect and transparency. Calandriello concluded his statement by wishing the village board the best of luck in the future and thanking his supporters for their unwavering support.
