The Meadow Ridge and Century Jr High campus was the scene of an overwhelming display of community on Sunday, October 26th, as Orland School District 135 Parents for Education (PFE) successfully hosted its first-ever Run35 Family Fun Run and Walk. The day’s perfect weather set the stage for a festive atmosphere, with the site filling up well before the start time.

Hundreds of families, staff members, and District administration were ready to run or walk around the two school campuses to show support for the District.

The event raised money for the Parents for Education Association, which supports all ten buildings within the District. The PFE hosts staff appreciations, raffles for students, themed parties and after-school events throughout the school year. Sponsorship for the event was robust, featuring major contributions from GT Mechanical, Dr. Duaa Hamoud of Orland Premier Dental, and State Farm agent Kira Schnell-Harrison. The Village of Orland Park also contributed a significant element—the finish line arch.

Families start the course on Sunday morning.

Post-race refreshments included coffee from Traveling Tom’s, donuts, and, of course, bananas. With such an overwhelming debut, anticipation is already building for next year's event, promising an even bigger celebration of community and collaboration.
