Repairs On Harlem Ave. Bridge Over Cal-Sag Channel Begin Aug. 12

Get ready for lane reductions Monday on your commute over the Harlem Ave. bridge in Palos Heights.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Repair work on the structural steel and deck on the bridge carrying Harlem Avenue over the Cal-Sag Channel in Palos Heights will require lane reductions and width restrictions starting Mon., Aug. 12, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.

In order to complete the work, Harlem Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction with a width restriction of 11 feet.

The work is expected to be complete by the end of November.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
