Sandburg Eagle named state winner in investment writing contest

Standout essay on portfolio diversification, earning top prize in prestigious Stock Market Game™ writing challenge.

Carl Sandburg High School sophomore Elise Anderson was recently named the State Winner of the InvestWrite Contest. InvestWrite is a national writing competition offered exclusively to teachers and students participating in The Stock Market Game™.

Students in AP Macroeconomics taught by Christina Simpson were encouraged to participate in the writing contest earlier this fall. Students wrote an essay responding to the following: Describe your Stock Market game portfolio investments. Was your portfolio diversified? If so, how? If not, how could you make it more diversified for long-term financial success?

The teacher reviews the essays and submits the best ones. Then, InvestWrite judges review and score up to eight essays each. Essays are evaluated on rationale, understanding of the subject matter, and writing style.
