ORLAND PARK, IL — A Chicago favorite is making its way to Orland Park, and it may be here sooner than you think.

Stan’s Donuts & Coffee will be making its way to the area, taking the former PDQ building at 15646 S. La Grange Road. The first Stan's opened in Chicago in 2014 and since then, multiple locations have popped up across Chicagoland. Other locations outside of Chicago include two in Oakbrook.

The business offers a variety of donuts, from old-fashioned to lemon pistachio. They also offer different kinds of coffee such as cold brew, iced and hot.

At Monday evening's Board of Trustees meeting in Orland Park, owner Rich Labriola said the company hopes to have its newest location open by the end of this year.

"I grew up in Blue Island, so I am very familiar with the south suburbs and Orland Park. We've been looking at the PDQ site for over a year," Labriola said. "It's not just a donut shop ... it's something really special."

This location will be the second one in Chicagoland to have a drive-thru, with Oak Brook Terrace being the first.

"[Oak Brook Terrace] opened last April, and it is our best performing store through COVID because of the drive-thru and suburban location," Labriola said. "I think the suburbs are obviously ready for what we have to offer, and if Oakbrook Terrace is any indication, I think Orland Park should exceed it ... this one unit could do somewhere between 2.2 to 2.5 million annually."

Stan's plans to remodel the 3,309-square-foot location and open by the end of the year, but the opening could possibly be pushed to the spring if necessary.

As of now, the cost of the project is anticipated to be at least $400,000, including
remodeling cost and onsite work, according to the agreement. A site plan has not yet been submitted, and the village still needs to approve the architecture, building elevations, exterior building materials, building, zoning and sign requirements and landscaping for the property.
