Student Article: Jerling Jr High Favorite Candy
With Halloween approaching, a survey was distribute to the Jerling Jr High staff to gauge what their favorite candy is.

The following article was written by Jerling Jr High Student, Amelia K. The article was originally published in the school newspaper: The Jerling Tribune.
Halloween is coming and something we (and by we, I mean ME, personally) love about this holiday is CANDY! Personally, I’m not too picky when it comes to candy but the approaching holiday made me wonder what types of candy do teachers like, so I decided to investigate.
I gave the Jerling Junior High staff a survey with questions about what type of candy they like. Thirty staff members filled this out. Most staff like chocolate candy more than sour; only 5/30 people chose sour candy. Most teachers like chocolate, like Mr. Kinsella and Ms. Krown. Next 21/30 people chose Twix over Skittles. No surprise there! Mr. Lammel chose Twix (his favorite candy). After that the question was Almond Joy vs. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Six people chose Almond Joy. I wasn't surprised that Reese's Peanut Butter Cups had more votes because Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is one of the most popular candies in America! I did note that a lot of staff have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups for their favorite candy, like Ms.Lowery and Ms.Kreger. Mrs. Conway said it best by saying, “Reese’s are the best of both worlds- who doesn’t love Peanut Butter and chocolate?”

Another question was 100 Grand Bars vs jelly beans (which are Ms.Conway’s weakness). Most teachers chose 100 Grand Bars but personally, I would have chosen jelly beans but only because I love sour candy. I loved reading the teachers’ answers that I could relate to, like seeing that some liked Nerds Gummy Clusters. Others I had to search up because I had never heard of them like “Fannie Mae Trinidads” and “Cadbury Dairy Milk”. One of the most unique answers was from Mrs.Brosnan. Mrs. Brosnan wrote that her favorite candy is “Gummy Sea Creatures from 7-11.” I’m still trying to get my parents to take me to 7–11 to try some! The response I related to the most was Mr. Gonella’s answer to his favorite candy when he said it’s - “All the candy!”
