AT&T Worker Hit By Car, 2 Charged with Burglary: Police

The Orland Park Police Department said an employee of AT&T was hit by the getaway vehicle, while trying to confront the two burglars.

ORLAND PARK, IL —The Orland Park Police Department said a store worker was hit by a car while chasing two fleeing burglars from the AT&T store, 7170 159th St., at around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. By the time officers arrived, police said the suspects were already gone, but were later apprehended.

Police said an investigation revealed that Joshua Hollins, 37, and Andre Pittman, 44, both of Chicago, entered the AT&T store and Hollins engaged the employee in conversations about upgrading a phone plan while Pittman roamed around the store. While Hollins continued to distract the employee, Pittman proceeded to enter a secured cabinet and access a cash register, taking money, according to police.

Police said the employee figured out what the two were doing and confronted them as they were leaving the store. The employee ultimately got the money back, according to police.

The employee was struck by the suspects getaway vehicle while following the two out of the store, to get a picture of their car, police said. The employee had minor injuries, according to police.

The driver of the getaway vehicle was Thomas Banks, 66, also of Chicago, according to police. Banks was charged with driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, battery and improper traffic lane usage, according to police.

Police said Banks was released with a pending court date at 9 a.m. Oct. 30 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Hollins was charged with burglary, according to police.

Police said during a search of Pittman, numerous IDs and credit cards in other people’s names were found on with him. Police said they learned that several of these were taken in a burglary to a motor vehicle several days prior in Chicago.

Pittman was charged with burglary and possession of another’s debit card, according to police.

A fourth person in the vehicle was released without charges, police said.

Police said on Wednesday, Pittman and Hollins were transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing. Pittman was issued a bond of $10,000 and Hollins was issued a bond of $20,000 with a return court date of Oct. 20, according to police.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
