20th Annual Holiday Pops at Park Ridge Civic Orchestra

As the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra (PRCO) enters its third decade with new and exciting programs, the annual Holiday Pops is no exception. Introducing Emerson Middle School's acclaimed chorus to its stage, the PRCO presents highlights from the musical Hairspray featuring the chorus and returning alum Megan Wilcox. Winning Park Ridge Idol's 2013 title, Wilcox is known in the community for her lovely voice, singing onstage at Taste of Park Ridge and at the July 3rd fireworks concert at Maine East.

Terry Broeker is Emerson's choral teacher working with PRCO's conductor, Victor Muenzer, on the collaboration.  "It has been great fun planning the show" stated Muenzer in a recent rehearsal, "and working with Terry and the students is a joy.  They are so full of energy and gifted musically.  Having Megan (Wilcox) join us is an added bonus.  I think our audience will love the whole experience."

PRCO's Holiday Pops is a lively mix of classics and seasonal favorites, opening with the Beethoven 5th and ending with a stirring Armed Forces Salute honoring all veterans in the audience as they stand for their service branch's official song. 

Returning are crowd favorites Jessye Wright and Larry Adams in holidays gems including Cantique de Noel and White Christmas.  "It's the best holiday ticket in town" says PRCO Executive Director Deborah Oberschelp.  "Free parking, low ticket prices, CTA/Metra and abundant restaurants steps away, and the chance to hear great musicians play and sing at the Pickwick – what could be better?"
