After boarding the CTA Red Line train Dec. 29 at 2 a.m. at the Belmont Avenue station, a 27-year-old Park Ridge man, of the 1600 block of south Prospect, was beaten and robbed, according to a Chicago police report. The victim told police a man in his early 20s approached him on the train sometime after boarding and asked for money. When the victim said he didn’t have any money to give, the man started punching him in the face.
That’s when the suspect started going through the victim’s pockets and backpack looking for goods. The suspect got off at the Monroe Street station in the Loop and ran away. The Park Ridge man didn’t need medical attention after the attack.
