16 Plainfield Seniors Named National Merit 'Commended' Students
The Plainfield students are among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.3 million students who entered the 2025 National Merit competition.
PLAINFIELD, IL — More than a dozen seniors at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 high schools were named "commended" students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship program.
The 16 commended students place among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.3 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Although commended students won't continue in the competition for scholarships, the roughly 34,000 students nationwide received recognition for their "exceptional academic promise," according to a news release from the district.
