$5K In Grants Open To D202 Students Through Foundation For Excellence

Multiple grants are available for Plainfield juniors who want to partake in a summer extended learning program.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Multiple grants are on the table for Plainfield juniors who want to broaden their academic horizons with the help of a grant from the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence.

Horizon Grants, totaling up to $5,000, will be awarded to Plainfield School District 202 juniors attending one of the district's four high schools and Plainfield Academy. Officials said actual grant amounts will vary depending on applications and available revenue.

The Foundation for Excellence introduced Horizon Grants in 2012 as part of its mission to support academic innovation for District 202 students.

Funds are to be used for expenses — such as registration, travel, food, lodging, learning materials and supplies — related to a summer enrichment experience happening between June 1 and Aug. 10, 2025.

Applications are due April 4, 2025, and winners will be announced by May 2.
