6 Things To Do In Plainfield This Weekend
From homecoming events, to a 5k and even a "Werktoberfest"

PLAINFIELD — There will be plenty to do in Plainfield this weekend — if the weather holds up. Here are six things to do in town this village.
Homecoming: Plainfield's yearly community homecoming events will take place this weekend. That includes the Community Homecoming Parade, which kicks of at 9 a.m. Saturday near Downtown. This year's grand marshals will be two of the parade's longest-standing organizers. For information on the new parade route, click here.
Bake Sale: At the homecoming parade? Stop by Vaughn Dance Academy, 24116 W. Lockport St. for a special bake sale that will raise money for area dancers seeking to raise money for next summer's national competition. You can get some coffee and cider there as well.

Plainfield Harvest 5k Walk/Run: Runners and walkers of all skill sets and ages are invited to usher in fall with this event. Races will start Sunday morning at the Avery YMCA, and a post-race party will be held at Tap House Grill. For more information, clickhere.
YMCA Family Night: From 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, the Avery YMCA will host its annual Family Night. The even will feature an ice cream sundae party, games and crafts. It is free and open to the public.

Werktober Fest: Head to Werk Force Brewing, 14903 S. Center St., Friday-Sunday for the brewery's "Werktober Fest." The event will include seasonal beers, food trucks and a live German band on Friday and Saturday. For more information, click here.
Football: All four high schools will suit up for football games this weekend. Plainfield East and Plainfield Central will battle at Plainfield East at 1 p.m. Saturday. Plainfield North will play at Oswego at 5 p.m. Friday, after the game was moved up due to weather. Plainfield South will take on Joliet Central at 6:30 p.m. Friday at home.
