Crash With Parked Car Leads To Charges For Repeat DUI Driver: Cops
Two people were injured after a car crashed into their vehicle while it was parked on the side of the road with its hazards on, police said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield woman faces multiple driving under the influence charges after she crashed into a car that was stopped on the side of the road with its hazards activated April 20, officials said.
Plainfield police and Oswego firefighters responded at about 1 a.m. Easter Sunday to Ridge Road and 143rd Street to a crash between a Toyota Corolla and a Mazda CX5.
The 911 caller told police the driver of the Toyota may be intoxicated, police said. When first responders arrived, the driver of the Mazda driver told officers that her car had two flat tires, causing it to be disabled on Ridge Road. She pulled to the side of the road with her hazards on, and while she and a passenger waited in the car for help, it was struck by the Toyota, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch.

The Mazda driver, 38, and a 9-year-old passenger were both hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 46-year-old Kristi Walker, refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
Walker voluntarily submitted to an officer's request for Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Novak.

Police also determined Walker's driver's license had been revoked for a previous DUI offense.
Walker was charged with the following and taken to the Kendall County jail:
- Aggravated DUI, third or subsequent violation
- Aggravated DUI, while driver's license is suspended/revoked
- Driving while license is suspended/revoked
- Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident
- Improper use of registration
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Kendall County records indicate Walker was charged with DUI after a traffic stop for disobeying a traffic control device on Route 34 near Route 30 in Montgomery in February 2024. In exchange for a guilty plea, she was sentenced to 18 months' probation and ordered to take part in alcoholism treatment and a victim impact panel, as well as to perform 240 hours of community service, Kendall County court records showed.
A petition to revoke her probation and conditional discharge was filed in December, with a hearing scheduled for May 12. Since then, an amended petition to revoke probation was filed on April 21. A hearing was set for April 28.
