PLAINFIELD, IL — A school improvement day in September has been altered for Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 students as a result of a nearby golf tournament, officials said.

The Board of Education voted to reschedule the Monday, Sept. 16 school improvement day for Friday, Sept. 13. SIP days mean staff members are working, but students do not have class.

Students and staff will both have to be in attendance on Sept. 16, but students will now have Sept. 13 off.

Staff said the cause for the switch is the LIV Golf Tournament hosted Sept. 13-15 by the Bolingbrook Golf Club. The event is expected to bring a higher volume of traffic to the area including several district schools.
