PLAINFIELD, IL — A driver "swerving all over the roadway" on Dec. 27 was found to be driving under the influence while carrying cocaine in the car, Plainfield police said.

Around 9:38 p.m. on the Friday after Christmas, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Mill Street and Main Street after someone reported a silver Ford F-150 driving improperly.

After locating the car based on its description and license plate, an officer witnessed the driver, later identified as Joseph M. Radich of Plainfield, improperly using the lane, Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.

When the officer approached the driver after pulling the car over for a traffic stop, Novak said, "several observations were made that led the officer to believe Joseph operated the vehicle while under the influence." Per the officer's request, the 41-year-old Radich submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

During an inventory search of the truck, officers found a small "white rock-like substance, suspect cocaine, and a glass pipe," Novak said. The substance later field-tested positive for cocaine.
