Fire Closes Northbound Route 59: Plainfield Police
Southbound Route 59 was also down to one lane as firefighters battled the blaze.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A structure fire at a home near Route 59 and Renwick Road had northbound Route 59 closed and southbound Route 59 down to one lane Friday night, police said.
Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton said crews responded to the blaze at a house in the 15700 block of Route 59 around 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived, fire was rolling out of the front window of the home, which was vacant at the time of the fire, he said.
Stratton said two firefighters were checked by an ambulance crew at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The house is uninhabitable, Stratton said.
Plainfield police said the road had reopened by around 10 p.m.
