Loaded Gun, Drugs Recovered From Car During Plainfield Gas Station Stop: Police

An officer searched the vehicle after seeing a small amount of suspected cannabis "in plain view."

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Park Forest man pulled over June 2 in Plainfield was driving with a loaded firearm, illicit drugs and cannabis, police said.

A Plainfield officer pulled over a black Chevy Malibu for an equipment violation at about 1 a.m. in the parking lot of Exxon gas station, 15809 South Route 59. The driver, 25-year-old Justice Pryor, was driving with a suspended license and had a warrant out for his arrest, Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.

"In plain view," the officer spotted a "small amount of suspected cannabis" in the car, promoting a search of the sedan that yielded the loaded gun, one bag of suspected MDMA, a bag with suspected cannabis, a package of THC-infused gummy bears and a chocolate bar and several gummies suspected to contain psilocybin.

Novak said Pryor admitted to possessing the firearm without a Firearm Owner's Identification card or a valid Concealed Carry License. He was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • Armed violence
  • Two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon
  • Possession of cannabis

Pryor was also cited for driving on a suspended license and driving with one headlight.

The arrest was included in Plainfield police's blotter on Tuesday.
