More Police Stationed At Plainfield HS After 'Unsubstantiated Threat'
A threat targeting Plainfield Central was found Monday evening, hours after the superintendent said no threats targeted district schools.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Police presence was heightened overnight into the Tuesday school day at Plainfield Central High School after an "unsubstantiated threat" circulated social media about the school, according to an alert from Superintendent Glenn Wood.
There is no credible evidence to support the threat, officials said, but as a precaution, additional officers were also stationed at the school on West Fort Beggs Drive as students arrived Tuesday morning.
"Our dedicated officers and school officials will be vigilant in monitoring and maintaining a secure environment," reads the Monday night message.

District officials said the Plainfield Police Department is actively investigating the origin of the social media message and is working closely with school officials on the process.
Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 staff alerted the community about the threat Monday evening, just hours after Wood released a statement assuring locals that no recent threats circulating social media were directly targeting Plainfield schools.

"At home, you can help by discussing the importance of staying informed through official channels and avoiding the spread of unverified information. Emphasize the importance of reporting any concerns or suspicious activity they may encounter."
