National Night Out To Be Scavenger Hunt Amid Pandemic: Police

Hosted on Oct. 6, this year the event will be a village-wide scavenger hunt for small participating groups.

PLAINFIELD, IL — As the pandemic continues to change the way we do things, it has also forced us to reimagine popular events that are no longer safe. This includes an annual event hosted by the police.

According to a Facebook post from the Plainfield Police Department Tuesday, this year's National Night Out will be hosted on Oct.6 in the form of a scavenger hunt throughout the village. Residents are asked to form small participating groups and pick up their clues from the police department between 5:30-8 p.m.

Those willing to donate food can also do so at the food pantry van that will be parked in front of the department.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make the neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This is usually held in August and in the previous years, Plainfield has seen residents dunk police chiefs in the water, raffles, bouncy houses, crafts and more.
