67,446 ComEd Customers Still Without Power In Will County

High winds downed trees and power lines Monday afternoon, causing heavy damage in parts of northern Illinois.

WILL COUNTY, IL — Several active power outages knocked out electricity to over 67,000 Commonwealth Edison customers in Will County Monday afternoon when a strong storm that threatened to turn into tornadoes ripped through the area.

Tornado warnings were issued for much of the Chicago area, with wind gusts of 80 mph, hail the size of a quarter and downed trees and power lines were reported as the severe weather passed through northern Illinois.

As of 7:33 a.m. Tuesday, about 67,446 ComEd customers in the county do not have electricity, according to the company’s outage map. There were at least 590 power outages across the county during the storm, affecting 26 percent of all customers in the county, according to the company.

The storm knocked out power for almost 757 customers in Bolingbrook, 2,907 in Plainfield, and 1,143 in Romeoville, ComEd’s map shows.
