Over 400 Homes Still Without Power; Traffic Signals Restored

As of 7:03 a.m. Wednesday, almost 437 ComEd customers in Plainfield are without power, according to the company's outage map.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Power outage continues in several Plainfield homes Wednesday morning after a severe storm ripped through the area Monday. However, according to the Plainfield Police Department, power has been restored to all the traffic signals, and they are "fully functional."

Tornado warnings were issued for much of the Chicago area, with wind gusts of 80 mph, hail the size of a quarter and downed trees and power lines were reported as the severe weather passed through northern Illinois Monday.

"Most residences should also have power restored as well, however there may still be small pockets without," Plainfield police said in a social media post.

ComEd wrote in a Facebook post that crews are "working diligently to restore power as quickly and safely as possible."

"Customers in the same neighborhood may be restored before some neighbors, due to different transformers providing power to different sections of the street or the power line directly feeding electricity to your property being damaged," the post said.
