Plainfield Man Pleads Guilty To Unauthorized Video Recording
Jay Vecchiet, 32, had secretly taped an underaged, nude girl in a bathroom without her consent, police said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man was sentenced to two years probation on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to secretly recording a minor while she was in the bathroom, according to police.
Jay Vecchiet, 32, was arrested last September after an investigation confirmed he was in possession of "inappropriate photos" of a juvenile, Plainfield Sgt. Kevin McQuaid said. Police were previously told that Vecchiet had the pictures on his phone, and the investigation determined that he had placed a hidden camera in a private facility to record the minor, McQuaid said.
Court records showed that Vecchiet had secretly taped an underaged, nude girl in a bathroom without her consent, Plainfield police said. Vecchiet was charged with two felony counts of unauthorized videotaping of a minor and one felony count of unauthorized videotaping, records show. He was booked into Will County Jail and released the next day after posting $15,000 bond. He was also banned from the Northern Illinois University campus, where he was an employee and graduate student.
