Plainfield Teenager Drowns In Lake Michigan: Coroner
Dominic Snovicky, 18, drowned at Indiana Dunes State Park Tuesday. The investigation into the drowning is ongoing.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield teenager drowned in Lake Michigan at Indiana Dunes State Park Tuesday, according to the Porter County Coroner's Office.
Dominic Snovicky, 18, was rushed to Porter Regional Hospital and pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday, the coroner's office said.
The Porter Fire Department said Snovicky went underwater around 11 a.m. and was found in the water a little after 12:30 p.m.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, a beach hazard warning had been issued at the time for high waves and dangerous swimming conditions.
Snovicky could not be saved, "despite all lifesaving measures performed by EMS and emergency room staff," Porter County Coroner Cynthia M. Dykes said.

"The investigation into the drowning is ongoing. The Department of Natural resources is assisting the Coroner’s Office," she said.
At the scene were fire and rescue teams from the Portage Fire Department, Crown Point, Burns Harbor, Chesterton, the Lake County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.
