Prescribed Burns Planned In Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Park District has three prescribed burns planned Wednesday.

The controlled burns will take place at Bott Park on a small grassland basin area just north of the Prairie Activity and Recreation Center; on the south section of Eaton Preserve, away from 135th Street; and on the pond shoreline at Creekside North.

Officials said the burns are beneficial for maintaining healthy ecosystems by promoting new growth, reducing invasive species and improving wildlife habitats.

"Stay safe and be aware of smoke in these areas," the Plainfield Park District said.
