Road Closings For Upcoming Fast Cat 5K/10K In Plainfield
According to police, due to the large number of participants expected and the planned event course, there may be increased local traffic.
PLAINFIELD, IL — On Saturday, March 30, the Plainfield North High School (PNHS) Track and Field Team will be coordinating the FAST CAT 5K/10K, which will take place in and around the PNHS and the adjacent roadways. Due to the large number of participants expected and the planned event course, commuters and residents may experience increased traffic or temporary road closures.
Two (2) races will occur in the morning hours on Saturday, March 30. The first race scheduled is the Fast Cat Kids Run. This race will begin at 8 a.m. on the property of PNHS; this race will remain on PNHS property and will not affect the adjacent roadways. The second race will be the 5K/ 10K Run, which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., and involves two laps of the race route. This race will begin at PNHS and proceed north on 248th Avenue to Millennium Parkway; proceed east on Millennium Parkway to Champion Drive; proceed east on Champion Drive to the bike path; proceed along the bike path until exiting on 119th Street; proceed west on 119th Street to 248th Avenue; proceed south on 248th Avenue back to PNHS.
Due to the Fast Cat 10K Run, the following roads will temporarily close beginning at 8 a.m. until the bulk of the runners/walkers have cleared the area:

- 248th Avenue from Winterberry Lane to Champion Drive
- 119th Street from Millennium Parkway to Heritage Meadows Drive
- Van Dyke Road from Whispering Trails Drive to 119th Street
- Millennium Parkway from 248th Avenue to Champion Drive
- Champion Drive from Millennium Parkway to Champion Court
All roadways will be re-opened at the conclusion of the race; approximately 10:30 a.m. Some roadways may open earlier. Parking will be restricted on Millennium Parkway from 248th Avenue to Champion Drive and Champion Drive from Millennium Parkway to Champion Court. Parking for this event will be available at PNHS.
