PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police are keeping an increased presence at Plainfield Central High School for the remainder of the day on Thursday after rumors of a possible threat against the school Thursday morning police said.
Police officials did not give specifics about the nature of the rumor but said in a social media post on Thursday afternoon that the school administration took immediate steps to protect the student body and worked with the police department to investigate the threat, police said.
Officials determined that following a thorough investigation, the threat was not substantiated. In a letter to parents, District 202 officials said that the school was informed of a rumor of a possible threat in the building on Thursday morning.
